This is the original, unedited and authentic edition of \"The Indian Struggle\". Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose wrote this book, during his exile in Europe, which was first published in London on 17th January,1935. Romain Rolland rightly observed in his letter to the author, \"It is an indispensable work for the history of the Indian Movement.\" A reprint of the London Publication was brought out in India in 1948; a second part of this title throwing light on history of a later period 1935-1942 was published in 1952. An Italian edition was also published in 1942. \"The Indian Struggle\", first published in London, was proscribed by the British government, not to enter either in India or to any foreign land. On 14th January,1940 Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose wrote to his nephew Amiya Nath Bose, who was in London, \"........there is an acute and widespread demand for my book \'The Indian Struggle\'. Please persuade the publishers to bring out an Indian edition of the book - somewhat cheaper than the original. Even without any additional chapters, it will sell in India like hotcakes. My life has been made intolerable everywhere by people asking for copies of the book. After the ban was lifted, whenever copies reached the Indian market, they were sold out in a day.\" However, Amiya Nath or other family members or his friends could not fulfill his wish; the first Indian print came out not until 1948, post - Second World War. Surprisingly, N.S.S Maniam of Kuala Lumpur managed to get a hold of the copy of the proscribed edition and published \"The Indian Struggle\" from Kuala Lumpur in 1942 during the World War II, with the permission of Propaganda Department, Selangor, a physical copy of which luckily came to us - Jayasree Patrika Trust. Thus, by reproduction of the first edition of the \"The Indian Struggle\", originally printed in London (1935), an indispensable commentary on Indian History, so long kept inaccessible, is now made available to general readers.
